Vincent Kompany Urges Manchester City To Keep Focus On Themselves Instead Of Rivals Manchester United

Vincent Kompany has urged Manchester City to keep the focus on themselves after they skipped ahead of rivals Manchester United in the Premier League table.

Kompany, 24, has been in excellent form at the heart of the Blues' defence as they have strode to the second place spot. This is the first time in 20 years that they have been ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson's side coming into October.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the giant Belgium international stated City must concentrate on their own game.

“It’s not about United, it’s about ourselves,” Kompany said.

“As long as we try to remain in the position we are in now, and maybe one spot away from first place, everyone will be happy, regardless of where United are.

“The result was the most important thing – it meant we could sit back and watch what happened between Arsenal and Chelsea.

“We didn’t play at our best but we did the job and that is what mattered. We can look at the league table and feel we have done a good job so far.”
