Werder Bremen Defender Per Mertesacker Happy With Good Run Of Form

Werder Bremen struggled at times against Wolfsburg last weekend and appeared to be on their way to a 2-1 defeat. Nevertheless, German international Per Mertesacker scored a late equalizer to help his side to a draw.

"Actually the 2-1 goal was the shot that killed us. But we didn’t let it affect us. We came back nonetheless. And we are still undefeated since our loss on matchday one," said Mertesacker on the official Werder website.

"Wolfsburg stood well but you could sense that we absolutely wanted the equaliser. We showed our absolute will to keep up this streak.

"We know that everyone wants to beat us and we take on this challenge. But we have to go into every game with full concentration."

Werder sit second in the Bundesliga after fourteen games. The Hanseaten have collected 27 points and trail table toppers Bayer Leverkusen by three points.
