Lazio & Napoli Appeals Rejected Over Julio Cruz & Rinaudo’s Three-Match Bans

Serie A clubs Lazio and Napoli have lost their appeals against the three-match bans handed out to Biancocelesti striker Julio Cruz and Partenopei centre-back Leandro Rinaudo.

The pair were involved in a bizarre spat during last Sunday’s goalless draw at the San Paolo, as Cruz was spotted biting Rinaudo on the arm which prompted the defender to slap the ex-Inter man and tug at his hair.

Both players were given a three-match suspension by sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel on Tuesday and the Lega Calcio Disciplinary Committee confirmed the punishment yesterday after Lazio and Napoli had lodged appeals.

The news will come as a heavy blow particularly to Lazio boss Davide Ballardini who will be without the veteran hitman for next Sunday’s Derby della Capitale against city rivals Roma.

Lazio currently have the second worst attack in the league, having scored a meagre nine goals in their opening 13 games.
