After meeting with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani on Friday night, midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has been linked with a move to the Premier League today.
Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly mooting the possibility of a transfer in January, but Rossoneri coach Leonardo has implored Gattuso to keep an open mind.
Gattuso is currently suffering from an injury, and the coach is eager to prove that he still considers the combative midfielder to be part of his first team plans.
"I believe and I hope that first he gets better, and then we can talk about it again," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.
"If he really wants to go, I will try and convince him otherwise. Because, as he said himself, he is 'Rino' Gattuso."
Leonardo then explained that he has not been annoyed by the 31-year-old's outburst, and revealed that he hopes all his players have the same attitude.
"I already knew about his comments. It's normal, I hope that they are all angry with me and have the desire to play."
Filippo Inzaghi and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar are two other players who are unhappy with their lack of playing time. The rookie coach insists that there is only room for one central striker in his system, and the form of Marco Borriello is preventing him from trying other options.
"'Pippo' is doing well, but Borriello is doing very well and we only play with one centre-forward. And then there is also Huntelaar, who is recovering well and who could also be useful."
